This morning, while out shopping, I came across the display for Olivia Rodrigo’s new album release, complete with all the themed merchandise and promotional decor. While I will not be picking up this album, and I skipped the last one as well, I have to admit that I am always drawn to a well executed aesthetic. I am a fan of a good vibe, and the display was undeniably cute.

Of all her work, SOUR remains my favorite Olivia Rodrigo album. In fact, one of my favorite companion pieces to that era is Olivia Rodrigo: driving home 2 u (a SOUR film). Since 2022, I have watched it every year without fail.
What I love most about the film is that it is more than just a concert special. It combines a road trip documentary with a behind the scenes look at the making of SOUR. There are intimate interviews, footage from the album’s creation, and new arrangements of the songs that give them a different emotional feel. It all comes together in a way that feels personal and reflective.
For some reason, it has also become part of my holiday season routine. There is something about the mix of nostalgia, music, and the open road atmosphere that makes it the perfect comfort watch.
“I bet she’s bragging
To all her friends, saying you’re so unique, hmm
So when you gonna tell her
That we did that, too?
She thinks it’s special
But it’s all reused”
