We went to Disneyland! It had been many years since my last visit, so I was especially excited to experience Galaxy’s Edge after finally watching so many of the Star Wars movies and shows. Knowing the stories and characters made the experience feel even more meaningful.
I have more Disneyland photos to share, but for now I’m sticking with the Star Wars ones. If you’ve followed my off and on blogs over the years, you probably know I was never really a Star Wars fan. I mean, I loved the Ewoks, but that was about the extent of it. Recently, though, I really started getting into the Star Wars universe after my husband suggested I watch Rogue One. I loved it! Then I watched Andor, which I also loved, and from there I started exploring the other shows and side stories. I have to say, I ended up enjoying many of the shows and side movies even more than the main movies.
Galaxy’s Edge was absolutely gorgeous, and we had such a great time there. What made our visit even more special was the timing. We arrived just days after Batuu received its biggest update yet, expanding the land beyond its original timeline with new characters, new music, and a fresh experience throughout Black Spire Outpost. Originally, Galaxy’s Edge focused on the sequel trilogy era, but this update brought in elements from different parts of the Star Wars universe, including classic characters like Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, and Han Solo, while still keeping favorites from newer stories. The updated music and details throughout the land made it feel even more like we had stepped right into the galaxy far, far away. It was such a cool experience getting to see everything so soon after the changes were made.
One of the biggest surprises was running into one of our favorite bands from Belgium, Ultra Sunn, while we were there! They quickly became our new Galaxy’s Edge and New Orleans buddies. *wink* Love you guys!
We were lucky enough to get right into Oga’s Cantina, which had just reopened, and it was so much fun. We sat with people from another country at the table beside us, then a couple sat across from us and asked me to take their photo. I always seem to become the go to person for pictures, haha! Even when we were in Washington, people wanted me to take their photos. My husband had the same thing happen when we were in England. I love capturing memories for people.
Toward the end, a family sat next to us, and Jonathan started talking with them about our drink lightsabers because the kids were interested in getting some. It was such a fun little interaction and one of those simple moments that makes a trip memorable.
We came back at night to watch the show, and it was just an incredible experience. The lights, music, and storytelling all came together perfectly. I actually cried because it was such a beautiful moment.
It was such a wonderful day full of fun, surprises, and memories I’ll always treasure. I can’t wait to share more Disneyland photos soon, but for now, here are my Star Wars adventures.
