About two weekends ago, there were a bunch of things happening all at once, and it turned out to be such a good time. We had reserved a spot to adopt a native plant, something they were actually giving away for free, and ended up choosing a sticky monkey flower. We already have a big California native garden, so it was a really nice addition.

In the same parking lot, California Water Service was celebrating its 100 year anniversary in Bakersfield, so there was even more to explore. They had different booths set up where you could learn about water conservation, which tied in perfectly with the native plant giveaway, plus plenty of little freebies along the way.

At one point, I heard someone on stage mention they were handing out free La Rosa fruit bars ✨made right here in Bakersfield✨, so of course we made our way over. I grabbed the mango one, and it was seriously good.

We ended up wandering around with our fruit bars, checking out all the classic cars on display. Between the plants, the booths, the treats, and the cars, it all came together into such a fun event. Definitely glad we decided to go.
